Packing Dishes and Glassware
It is always best to have the professionals pack your dishes and glassware. However, if you decide to pack them yourself, be sure to use a lot of white paper. Newsprint can be purchased at any moving company. When loading dishes into the carton, they should be wrapped tightly and stood up on their edge. This will help in preventing breakage. Glasses should be wrapped tightly also and stood upright as opposed to being laid on their sides.
PrePlanning Your Move
Preplanning is very important. It will save you time and money. Four weeks before you move you will want to go through your belongings. Give old clothes and other items not needed to local charities or a church. These donations can be deducted from your taxes so be sure and get a receipt.

Packing Boxes
Small cartons should be used for heavier items such as books and records. Medium cartons can be used for bedding and linen, games and kitchenware (pots & pans). Large cartons are used for light items such as pillows, blankets and comforters.
