Mountain Moving & Storage Named One of America’s Best Moving Companies by USA TODAY

We have some big news to share. Mountain Moving & Storage has been named one of America’s Best Moving Companies 2026 by USA TODAY and Plant-A Insights Group. The top 750 companies in the country earned this recognition from more than 36,000 moving companies considered.

For a family-owned mover in the Tacoma area, that is a proud moment. Here is how the list was made, what it means, and why it matters when you choose a mover.

What Is America’s Best Moving Companies 2026?

USA TODAY worked with Plant-A Insights Group, a research firm, to build this list. The ranking is based on a survey of more than 17,000 customers and a review of more than 2 million online reviews. That is a lot of real people sharing what their moves were like.

How Did Companies Make the List?

Getting on this list wasn’t easy. Here is how it worked, according to Plant-A’s methodology page:

To qualify, a company needed verified U.S. operations and at least 100 customer reviews. About 3,700 companies met those rules, and Plant-A checked their records against FMCSA and DOT data.
Customers rated how likely they were to recommend a mover. They also scored things like care of belongings, punctuality, and price transparency.
Computer software scanned online reviews to gauge how people felt about professionalism, communication, and reliability.
Companies linked to financial, legal, or ethical problems in the news between October 2023 and October 2025 were left out.

Here is the part we like best. Plant-A has a strict no-pay-to-play policy, and there were no applications. A company cannot buy a spot or sign up for one. It has to earn it from its customers.
